This course is designed to develop safe gun handling skills and shooting fundamentals with a shotgun. Students will learn how to properly handle and deploy a shotgun for personal protection. 

Course topics include:

  • Responsible gun ownership

  • Legal responsibilities

  • Weapon care and maintenance

  • Ammunition selection, deployment and ballistics

  • Weapon systems and options

  • Ready positions

  • Tactical loading and reloading techniques

  • Identifying and clearing malfunctions

  • Multiple suspect engagement

  • Self-defense tactics with a shotgun

Required Gear:

300 rounds of birdshot, 25 rounds of buckshot, 10 rounds of slug, Pump or Auto shotgun, Belt, Sling, Wrap-around eye protection,   Ear protection, Baseball style cap.
